Why Oslo Is Off-Limits to Apple's Aerial Photographers
Apple's taken plenty of flak for its mapping system, and some of it is
well-deserved. After all, the maps have erroneously led drivers into the
middle of nowhere and shown buildings that appear as though they're
melting. Don't blame Apple if its images of Oslo, Norway, aren't
crystal-clear, however. That one's not on Apple. Norway has denied Apple
the license required to take aerial photos of Oslo.

begun following Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's announcement on Friday
that he will step down from his post some time within the next 12
months. "This is a time of important transformation for Microsoft,"
Ballmer said in an internal email. "Microsoft has all its best days
ahead."

AWS: The Cloud Is Falling
Amazon Web Services were impacted in some areas on Sunday, six days
after Web stores in the U.S. and Canada went down for about 30 minutes,
causing losses estimated at up to $45 million. The latest outage lasted
about an hour and impacted Facebook's Instagram, Twitter's Vine and
Airbnb, among others. Amazon blamed the problem on a networking device
that caused packet losses, which it replaced.
