Putting Enterprise Risk Under the Microscope (36:54)
Recent developments in the cybersecurity landscape have heightened
interest in accurately anticipating and understanding risk, and using
that knowledge to better manage organizations. Enterprises are better
delivering risk assessment and, one hopes, defenses, in the current
climate of challenging cybersecurity. Nation-state types of threats may
have a very serious impact on organizations.

Today's Story Highlights
Tech Industry Closes Ranks Behind Apple as ITC Ban Looms
The Business Software Alliance reportedly is pushing to overturn the
U.S. International Trade Commission's ban against older iPhones and
iPads, maintaining that it would set a dangerous precedent. When the ITC
makes a decision to ban a particular product for import into the U.S.,
it is fast and usually final. That, after all, is what companies like
about the ITC.

Which Tools Do You Use?
Let me share some information with you from a new marketing study I did
this summer. First, the data: We asked marketers if they used CRM,
marketing automation and business intelligence to process marketing
data. The big dog was CRM, with a 54 percent share. Next came marketing
automation with a full third, and last was BI with 22 percent. So far,
so good.

Samsung May Be Heading Into Choppy Seas
Samsung reported record second-quarter profits on Friday, but investor
concerns drove down the company's share prices nevertheless. Its
flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone did not sell as well as expected, and
there are indications that demand for high-end devices that fetch a
premium price and offer maximum profits is falling, as demand for low-
end devices picks up.

Zynga Beats a Path Out of VegasVille
After placing its bets on real-money online gambling late last year,
Zynga on Thursday announced that it is abandoning that initiative. The
beleaguered company now believes that its best plan is to focus on free-
to-play social games, it announced in its second quarter 2013 financial
report. It will continue to evaluate the real-money gaming products it's
testing in the UK.

Amazon Shakes Off Small Q2 Loss
A 22 percent revenue increase in its second quarter wasn't enough to
keep Amazon from reporting an unexpected $7 million loss on Thursday,
which it attributed partially to a weakened European economy. The
company's stock, which has been up more than 20 percent for the year
overall, tumbled more than 2 percent in after-hours trading but had
recovered by Friday afternoon.
