| | A: Windows 8.1 allows a machine to boot directly to the desktop instead of the Start Screen after logon. To make the change, perform the following:
- Right-click the Task Bar and select Properties.
- Select the Navigation tab.
- Under the Start Screen area, select Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in.
- Click OK.
